The Council:
The present Council members took office in January 2007 following elections held in October 2006. There are ten elected members, two from each of five electoral districts, three of which are in the North Island and two in the South Island. In addition the Government appointee to the Registration Board is, ex officio, a member of the Council. The Council elects the President of the Institute and the Registration Board following each Council election.
